What Happened in Athens?

On the night of October 24, 2025, Grace Lang, a UGA student majoring in photography and geology, was at Cutters Pub during a bar crawl when she and her friends encountered 33-year-old Kenneth Leland Morgan. Morgan was wearing a full Nazi uniform, complete with a red swastika armband, an outfit that immediately drew attention and condemnation from patrons. According to reports from 11Alive, the New York Post, and CBS News Atlanta, the situation escalated when Lang’s Jewish friend confronted Morgan, leading to a heated exchange.

Lang stepped in to de-escalate the situation and attempted to remove Morgan’s swastika armband, a symbol widely recognized as promoting hate and antisemitism. In response, Morgan allegedly smashed a glass beer pitcher into Lang’s face, resulting in a broken nose and requiring four stitches. Video footage of the incident, which circulated widely on social media, captured Morgan grinning during the assault, adding to the disturbing nature of the event.

Response from Authorities

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department acted quickly, arresting Morgan shortly after the incident at around 3:00 AM on October 25, 2025. He faces charges of felony aggravated assault and two counts of misdemeanor battery, with a bond set at $1,500, according to police records cited by CBS News Atlanta. The university confirmed that Morgan is not a UGA student or affiliated with the institution, emphasizing their gratitude for the prompt response from law enforcement.
