If you live in California and you buy firearm parts, triggers, unfinished frames, jigs or even a 3D printer for gun builds, something big just changed.
Gun Accessory Supply (GAS) sent out an important notice this week explaining how Assembly Bill 1263 is affecting shipments right now.
Here’s exactly what changed, what didn’t change, and what you should do next if you’re in California.
What is AB 1263 and why is it stopping direct shipments to California homes?
AB 1263 (together with other new California rules) added strict requirements for certain firearm-related products: • Mandatory consumer notices • Age and ID verification • Special delivery controls • Extra recordkeeping for sellers
Instead of trying to handle all those new rules for every single customer, Gun Accessory Supply made a simple, safe decision: Newly restricted items will only ship to exempt FFL dealers inside California. No more drop-shipping these items directly to your house.
Which items are now restricted and can only ship to California FFL dealers?
Here is the exact list from Gun Accessory Supply (effective immediately):
• Unattached firearm barrels • Triggers and other parts used to manufacture or complete firearms • Jigs, tools and fixtures used in firearm building • 3D printers, CNC machines and similar equipment marketed for firearm or component production • Any other high-risk items they decide fall under AB 1263 later
If your cart contains any of these items and your shipping address is in California, the order will be held until you provide a California FFL who will accept delivery.
Good news: 3 things that are not changing
• Firearms and ammunition still ship the same way – only to licensed FFL dealers • Dealers outside California are completely unaffected • If you already have an FFL in California, you can still order everything normally
What should California customers do right now?
Option 1 – Easiest and fastest Find a local FFL dealer who is happy to receive these parts for you. Tell them: “Gun Accessory Supply will only ship restricted items to your licensed premises.” Most good FFLs charge $20–$40 to transfer and hand you the parts. Done in 2–5 days.
Option 2 – If you are an FFL yourself Email Gun Accessory Supply right now. They are actively talking to California FFLs and will set you up so you can keep ordering normally.
Option 3 – Wait and watch They said they will keep reviewing the list as more guidance comes out. If something changes and direct shipping becomes possible again, you’ll be the first to know.
Questions we’re already answering for California customers today
“Can my FFL still receive this?” → Yes – as long as it ships to their licensed premises.
“I already placed an order yesterday – what happens?” → We’ll reach out to you today with your two easy choices.
“I’m an FFL in California – can I still order for inventory?” → Yes! You’re exactly who we’re now shipping to.
Quick summary
California residents → restricted items (barrels, triggers, jigs, 3D printers, etc.) → only to your FFL dealer’s shop → not to your home
Everything else → no change
