When a woman returned to her Oregon home with her two children over the weekend, she made a discovery in the residence, according to Portland police.
(WashingtonPost)- She found an “unknown man” inside the home, the Portland Police Bureau said in a news release. And, police said, she found him in one of her children’s bedrooms.
The 33-year-old mother was armed and fatally shot the suspected intruder, police said.
Authorities were called to a home at 1:47 a.m. Sunday, according to a release. They met the homeowner when they arrived, and she let them inside.
“Inside the home, officers found a deceased male,” police said in a release. “The homeowner is cooperating with police and there is no public safety risk.”
The woman was not identified in releases on the shooting. Police said her children were 5 and 10 years old.
The suspect in the case was also not immediately identified. An autopsy on the 59-year-old man has been scheduled for Monday.
