MANDAN, ND – Tensions are rising as law enforcement officers prepare to move into the Dakota Access Pipeline protest camp near the Fort Rice, N.D, where protesters are calling the “front line.”
Authorities say they’ve taken steps to remove illegal roadblocks and protesters trespassing on private property near Highway 1806, beginning at 11:15 Thursday morning.
Demonstrators have created a camp on the pipeline’s path on the property known as the “Cannonball Ranch.” Dakota Access LLC recently purchased the ranch.
The Morton County Sheriff’s Department says numerous counties, cities, state agencies and out-of-state law enforcement are assisting in the operation.
Authorities say Hwy 1806 is still shut down between Fort Rice and Cannonball.
