The Speer Gold Dot load of ammunition has always been a benchmark of quality and performance for law enforcement. Now, as of December 19th, Speer has been awarded a contract with the DHS (US Department of Homeland Security) and ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement) to the tune of 120 Million Rounds of ammunition.
If that number seems ridiculously daunting, do not worry, it is. To give it a little perspective though, most ammo manufacturers package their 9mm hollow-points in quantities of 25 rounds per box. In other words, Speer will supply the DHS and ICE with 4.8 Million boxes of ammunition in their coveted Gold Dot flavor in the coming months and years.
A press release statement given by Speer expanded on the announcement of the contract they won:
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), recently awarded Speer a major ammunition contract. Starting delivery in 2018, the contract provides for up to 120 million rounds of 124-grain, 9mm Luger Gold DotDuty ammunition to multiple DHS law enforcement components and other Federalagencies for up to five years.
This contract will provide the organization’s agents and officers with the legendary performance that has made Gold Dot the No. 1 load of law enforcement worldwide.
If you are unfamiliar with the Speer Gold Dot or just have not pushed any through your carry firearm, these are the types of specs and quality components you cancome to expect.
