Ball State University police have lifted a lockdown put in place Thursday night after a report of a man with a gun on campus.
(WANE)- A text alert from the campus was issued around 8 p.m. and advised DeHorty and Woodworth Halls should be avoided. An alert sent at 10:15 p.m. stated that the lockdown had been lifted.
A text alert from BSU described the the man carrying the gun as a white male with dark, short hair, between the age of 18 and 22, wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves partly rolled up, brown cargo shorts, black socks and black shoes. The text alert reported the man was accompanied by another man, described as having dark, short hair and wearing a pink-and-gray striped shirt.
BSU student Austen Evie told NewsChannel 15 he was sitting and eating with friends at Woodworth Hall when university police pulled up and rushed in with long guns.
The university advised students and staff on campus to stay where they were while police investigated. After the alert was issued, university officials said there was no longer a threat and the university police department continues to investigate.
