A convicted sex offender who changed his name to Avril Lavigne, was arrested after being accused of trespassing to stalk young girls, according to police in Oregon.
Salem police said that they have arrested Lavigne, 30, after a resident called police to complain that he was sitting on his neighbor’s balcony for hours.
Over the past few months, numerous women and girls complained that Lavigne was following them and took pictures.
He then uploaded the photos to social media sites. Lavigne was also charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
In court, Lavigne denied the allegations, saying that he registered as a sex offender while he was in prison earlier this year.
He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center, and was released without bail.
Lavigne has a long criminal history, including theft, disorderly conduct, reckless burning and interfering with peace officers or firefighters.
Several years ago, Lavigne was convicted of attempted rape and sex abuse. He was sentenced to jail and ordered to register as a sex offender.
Lavigne lived in many cities and was arrested numerous times for failing to register as a sex offender. Before Lavigne changed his name, he was known as Romany Yves Mesina.
