Windows shattered, officer injured, Weapons and Drugs found on Protesters
(FOX)- A protest turned into a riot outside a Pittsburgh jail, leaving an officer injured, jail windows broken and car windows shattered Monday night.
Approximately 20-25 protesters wearing masks and bandannas started throwing rocks and setting off fireworks, public safety officials said in a release. Eleven protesters were arrested, and officials released their mugshots.
Two bike officers who were first to arrive tried to arrest a demonstrator, resulting in one officer’s minor injury, officials said in a statement.
The protesters, many of them dressed in dark clothing, escaped in different directions, leaving windows shattered and the Municipal Court Building graffiti-ed. One sheriff’s vehicle also suffered damage.
The arrested protesters were found with knives, drugs and at least one firearm, public safety officials said.
