The chief of the South San Francisco Police Department says an officer who was struck on the head with a skateboard during a confrontation with a suspect is in critical condition after surgery.
(FOX)- Chief Jeff Azzopardi told a press conference Friday that the officer was knocked unconscious and suffered traumatic head injuries in the attack Thursday afternoon. The officer had responded to reports of a man acting aggressively.
The injured officer’s name has not been released. The chief says he is a 12-year veteran of the force who is married and has two children.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer.
