A former Navy SEAL who failed to appear in court this year after a domestic assault in Long Beach turned himself in Wednesday morning, authorities said.
(Newsday)- Nathanael “Lalo” Roberti, 33, was arrested April 6, 2015, at a private home on East Hudson Street and was later charged with strangulation, assault, unlawful imprisonment, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, criminal obstruction of breathing and bail jumping.
“He surrendered without incident to the Nassau County courthouse this morning,” said Long Beach Police Lt. Eric Cregeen.
Roberti served in Afghanistan and has spoken publicly about his struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder. Bail was set at $150,000 bond or $50,000 cash, said Brendan Brosh, spokesman for Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas.
Roberti will appear at the Long Beach Police Department at a later date on the bail-jumping charge, Cregeen said.
Roberti’s attorney, Mitchell Barnett of Garden City, said his client made his initial court appearances but failed to show up for court dates in April.
Barnett said he did not know why Roberti was a no-show and did not want to comment further.
