Just when you thought there was a dating site catering for every conceivable niche, a new service is promising to help match US citizens fleeing the “unfathomable horror of a Trump presidency” with Canadian singles.
(9News)- MapleMatch.com, which appears to have launched earlier this month, promises to “make it easy” for US-based singles to find their “ideal Canadian partner”, potentially whisking them away from the looming threat of a Trump administration.
Captioned photos circulating on Twitter have urged dating candidates to sign up to the website’s waiting list, citing a “surge” in “American demand” for the service, as a result of the “high likelihood of the Republican nomination of Donald Trump”.
MapleMatch.com CEO Joe Goldman told Canadian Press the website had already received more than 4200 sign-ups, 70 percent of which were Canadians.
Google searches for “how to move to Canada” reportedly spiked 350 percent in the hours following the release of primary election returns on Super Tuesday, according to Google Trends.
