OCONEE COUNTY, Ga. -(FOX5Atlanta)- Investigators have released the video
from a police body camera showing a deputy-involved shooting in Oconee County earlier this week.
It happened on Dials Mill Spur on Wednesday night. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said three deputies were responding to a domestic situation when they were confronted by a man with a firearm who had locked himself in a room inside the home. The video appears to show the man raise his gun and open fire on the deputies. Deputies returned fire, striking the man.
The man was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. Investigators said he faces several charges including Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to independently investigate the incident.
The deputies were not injured.
