What is it with Wal-Mart and “Shootings” in the news lately?

Police: Wal-Mart customer fatally shoots suspected thief

There have been a ton of headlines involving Wal-Mart and shootings over the past several weeks. Officers involved in shootouts, officers being shot, suspects being shot; it’s almost enough to deter me from going to Wal-Mart anymore.

Not that I enjoy going there anyway. I always see the weirdest and worst society has to offer when I go. However, the headlines are most certainly becoming a more and more common occurrence. Which leads me to the question; why Wal-Mart?

Does Wal-Mart have great savings? Yes. Is there a Wal-Mart near every major urban and suburban community? Just about. Do you see the weirdest people in Wal-Mart? Oh, HELL YES you do! But what is it about Wal-Mart that draws in the scum of the Earth leading to headlines like this?

The most recent incident happened near Orlando, Florida.

Fox News reports:

Police say a customer at a Wal-Mart store in Florida fatally shot a man who was among a group suspected of stealing two carts full of merchandise.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the shooting occurred Saturday after suspects left the store with stolen items.

Sheriff’s Capt. A.L. Nieves says the men were loading the merchandise into a car when a worker and a customer who came to the employee’s aid confronted them.

Nieves says the customer was armed and fired at a suspect, who he thought was going for a weapon. Nieves did not identify anyone involved.

The suspect later died at a hospital after deputies found him at a gas station. (Read More)
