TWELVE inmates including attempted murderers escape from Alabama jail as furious local residents vow to ‘shoot on sight’ and blast prison staff

A massive manhunt is underway after 12 inmates broke free from an Alabama prison on Sunday night.

The inmates escaped from Walker County Jail in Jasper at about 6.30pm.

Eight of them had been recaptured by 11.30 but the other four are still on the run.

Two of those who escaped were jailed for attempted murder.

It is not yet clear how the prisoners escaped and authorities are still investigating.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office released a list of prisoners they still were hunting for.

Those being hunted include:

Christopher Micheal Smith, 19, of Jasper is in jail for attempted murder, first-degree burglary, unlawful breaking and entering, second-degree theft.

Brady Andrew Kilpatrick, 24, of Cordova is in jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

Larry Inman Jr, 29, of Parrish, in jail for two counts of receiving stolen property, attempting to elude, failure to appear.

Ethan Howard Pearl, 24, of Jasper who was jailed for resisting arrest, obstructing government operations, possession of drug paraphernalia, promoting prison contraband, and failure to appear.

Steven Blake Lamb, 28, of Quinton was jailed for attempted murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree theft, reckless endangerment and probation revocations. He was captured by police at 10.42pm.
