If you are ever scrolling through your Facebook or checkin random videos out on YouTube, you can’t help but click on the scare cam videos. Its like seeing a big red button the says LAUNCH… You just want to see what it’s all about. Why in God’s name do you think this is? Well there might be a scientific reason behind it.
At one point in everyone’s life, whether you remember it or not….the shit has been scared out of you. During that moment, there is a small part of your anatomy that sits on top of your kidneys called adrenal glands that release a huge amount of the hormone epinephrine into your blood stream. A vast amount of bodily reactions are triggered at this time such as increased heart rate and breathing that make up the “fight or flight response”. When the excitement is over your body has a way of taking calming itself down by unleashing a compensatory hormonal burst called noradrenaline. This is where your heart rate and breathing go back to its normal rates. The burst also gives you a sort of high which makes you feel peaceful, relaxed, and an almost deep pleasure state. This high can be addicting. Its an excited state that takes over your body, and when you see videos like these, you relive that moment every time you watch. Deep down. We are all just a bunch of adrealinine junkies whether we know it or not.
