Senator Rand Paul has called for the arrest of New York Attorney General Alvin Bragg, who is leading the investigation into former President Trump’s possible indictment.
Paul joins the chorus of those who have condemned the indictment as a witch hunt and a political ploy to smear Trump’s 2024 campaign. However, many believe that if Trump is arrested, it will only increase support for his cause, as evidenced by recent polls.
Paul, a Kentucky Republican, has been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump. Paul has also defended Trump against his critics, including during the 2019 and 2021 impeachment proceedings.
“A Trump indictment would be a disgusting abuse of power. The DA should be put in jail,” the Republican tweeted.
