House OKs bill letting Guard members carry guns

The Virginia House has approved a bill that would allow members of the National Guard to carry concealed handguns while on duty.

Introduced by Republican Del. Scott Taylor,  his bill in response to the deadly shooting at a recruiting center in Chattanooga, Tennessee last year.

The bill passed unanimously in the VA house on Thursday. It now heads to the Virginia Senate.

The bill would allow National Guard members with a valid permit to carry concealed handguns at guard facilities, like recruiting centers.
