Three would-be robbers were shot and killed Monday when an Oklahoma homeowner’s son opened fire on them with an AR-15, authorities said.
Here is a Prime Example of why you need a 30 round magazine and why all family members should be trained and comfortable with the use of a firearm!
It is unclear to the reports as to whether the now deceased criminals were armed, however I would think so. The 19 year old son of the homeowner, obviously trained in the operation and use of the AR-15 was not only able to stop the threat to himself and his family, but was able to do it swiftly and with precision.
Not many other firearms have the ability to allow it’s user this type of convenience. This young man was able to protect his family by having the right tool for the job and the training required to do so.
Had the young man in the report not been able to retrieve the AR-15, or if they hadn’t a firearm in the house at all; I am certain this headline would be very different and probably more on the horrific “family killed in home” variety.
The woman accused of acting as the getaway driver for three would-be burglars shot and killed by a homeowner’s son in Oklahoma was arrested, law enforcement officials announced late Monday.
More details also emerged about the moments leading up to the gunshots. Two of the three who broke in through a glass door in the back of the house were armed: one with a knife and one with brass knuckles, according to investigators in Broken Arrow.
The suspected getaway driver, 21-year-old Elizabeth Marie Rodriguez, turned herself in hours after the shooting, Fox 25 reported. She was booked in the Wagoner County jail on three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree burglary.
Wagoner County sheriff’s deputies were called to the home in Broken Arrow, southeast of Tulsa at around 12:30 p.m. local time. When they arrived, they found the three dead suspects and two uninjured residents.
Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Nick Mahoney said the suspects enetered the home through a glass back door with the intent to burglarize it. It was not immediately clear why they picked that home.
Mahoney said the suspects encountered the homeowner’s 23-year-old son, who opened fire after an exchange of words. Two of the suspects died in the home’s kitchen while a third was found in the driveway.
It was not immediately clear whether the suspects were armed, but Mahoney said the preliminary investigation indicated the shootings were in self-defense. The homeowner’s son volunteered to give a statement at the sheriff’s office.
