A pair of robbery suspects chose the wrong Whataburger when they encountered a pair of sheriff’s deputies already at the restaurant.
(KVUE)- According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at 2:30 a.m. Monday at the restaurant located in the 2100 block of FM 2920 near Spring Cypress Road.
At that time, the two deputies, who were off-duty in street clothes, stopped at the fast-food restaurant to get something to eat, according to investigators. Then two armed suspects came into the business.
The deputies ended up shooting at the would-be robbers, investigators said. One of the suspects was shot numerous times.
Investigators said he was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The second suspect fled the scene, and deputies said his pistol was found in the parking lot of the restaurant.
Investigators said they do not think the second suspect was hurt. A K-9 unit was used to find the second suspect, but so far no luck.
